TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

On December 8, 1972, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) was created by virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 78.

PD No. 78 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos reorganized the Weather Bureau into PAGASA.Accordingly, PAGASA provides flood and typhoon warnings, public weather forecast and advisories, meteorological, astronomical, climatological, and other specialized information and services primarily for the protection of life and property and in support of economic, productivity and sustainable development.
