#SALAWIKAIN: “Galit ang magnanakaw sa kapwa magnanakaw”

“A thief hates his own kind.”

This salawikain tells us of how people of same kind would know each other’s nuances and would hate that person because he sees his own person in himself. This may also be explained with the English proverb – “It takes one to know one” or “It takes a thief to catch a thief” – as no one knows better how a thief works than another thief.

The cartoon shows of a thief tipping the police of an ongoing robbery. The proverb is depicted in this cartoon in a literal manner.

This proverb is often used when someone got caught doing something delinquent especially when the one who catches him is a known delinquent himself.
