TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

General Douglas MacArthur fulfills his promise to return and liberate the Philippines from the Japanese invaders. MacArthur, with a heavy heart, left the Philippines in 1942 as ordered by President Roosevelt. The order was made amid the heavy losses suffered by the combined forces of Americans and Filipinos.

Roosevelt, fearing that the prospects of winning against the Japanese is not very good, had make the order as he can’t afford to have one of America’s best General, be held captive.
