Today in Philippine History

In one of the many courageous acts of public defiance, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), walked out of the COMELEC centre.

The computer workers doing the election count protested the obvious manipulation of vote counts to favour President Marcos. The walkout is said to be one of the early sparks which lead to the People Power Revolution.
