Today in Philippine History

The new Constitution of the Philippines was proclaimed, ratified and made effective, by President Corazon Aquino. She pledged allegiance to it later on the same day.

Upon Aquino’s inauguration following the People Power Revolution of 1986, she issued Proclamation no 9, creating a Constitutional Commision (ConCom) to frame a new charter to supersede the 1973 Constitution.
