TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

Sultan Mohammad Dipatuan Kudarat of Maguindanao was honoured as national hero of the Filipino people by President Ferdinand Marcos. He is able to stop the Spaniards from conquering his Sultanate thus hindering the conversion of Mindanao into Christianity.

Sultan Kudarat was a great leader who promotes unity among the people of his Sultanate. He lead the Sultanate of Maguindanao from 1625 to 1671 AD. In 1973, a province in the Southwestern part of Mindanao was named in his honour.
