TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

President Ramon Magsasay issued Executive Order 8, prohibiting the slaughtering of carabaos for a period of 1 year.

The order was made due to the indiscriminate killing of carabaos which led to its scarcity. Due to the scarcity brought by the slaughter, the price went up and became unaffordable to the farmers who use them in their farm work.
