TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

The administration of President Cory Aquino is able to suppress a heavily armed rebel group who occupied a television station in Manila.

Channel 7 was being held by the group for 2 days before armed troops wearing gas masks attacked the building and threw tear gas to flush the rebels out. A few minutes later, the group surrendered without firing a single shot.
