TODAY IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

Amnesty was granted to all Philippine collaborators by then President Manuel Roxas as a measure to bring about unity to the nation devastated by war. Full amnesty was granted to the collaborators who are on trial or waiting to be tried including former President Jose P Laurel.

Not covered by the amnesty program are the collaborators who were charged with the commission of common crimes such as murder, rape and arson.
