THE YO-YO

Did you know? The popular toy, the Yo-Yo, was invented by 16th century hunters in the Philippines. The hunters’ version was large and has sharp edges and studs and was attached to a thicker rope. It later on evolved and became smaller and smoother and used as a toy.

It was a Filipino migrant to the US, Pedro Flores, who gave birth to the name “Yoyo” (means come-come or come back in Tagalog).

The Yo-yo’s latest honor was being the first toy in outer space. (By: nzpinoy)
